The educational landscape around Webster, TX is about to witness a remarkable transformation with the establishment of the newest Odyssey Academy campus. For the 2024-2025 school year, Odyssey Academy (OA) will be moving their El Lago campus to its new facility at the former Edgar A. Smith Family YMCA located at 14650 Old Galveston Road. Construction will begin soon in order to prepare the facility to begin educating students in August of 2024. The Webster campus will educate prekindergarten through 8th grade students.
“We are excited to officially announce that we are on the move with the arrival of our new campus in Webster. It is our goal to provide high-quality learning and work environments for our students and staff in locations that are in the communities where they live. This new location achieves these goals, and we will be excited to continue offering our current El Lago students, as well as new students from the Webster and Pasadena areas, a stellar education with us in Webster,” said Dr. Jennifer Goodman, Superintendent of OA.
Odyssey Academy prides itself on offering innovative curriculum and programs for its students. The Webster campus will offer a full day prekindergarten program for qualifying students. It will also focus on leadership skills through using FranklinCovey’s Leader in Me and 7 Habits programs. These programs teach 21st century leadership and life skills to students and help to create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child has genius and can be a leader. Odyssey Academy will also offer a curriculum focused on S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math). OA’s curriculum focuses on these subjects to help students develop the critical thinking and problem solving skills needed to be successful in the 21st century.
Additionally, in 2023, OA began offering a unique, flexible-week calendar with the goals of increasing student growth and attendance, deepening student learning with additional small group instructional times, and increasing teacher instructional planning time in order to increase student learning and recruit and retain the best teachers.
OA is a free, public charter school district with over 1,500 students at three locations across the greater Galveston County area. Our caring and qualified teachers and staff have worked diligently to help each one of our OA students find their passion and path to success for 25 years! We look forward to continuing to partner with families in the growth of their students into well-rounded young adults who are ready to be productive members of society.
