HISTORY OF ODYSSEY ACADEMY
1998: Founded by Robert A. (Bob) Mosbacher, Sr., founder of Mosbacher Energy Co. and U.S. Secretary of Commerce for President George H.W. Bush; chartered by State Board of Education as a third-generation charter school
1999: Opened as an open-enrollment public charter middle school in Galveston, then grew to serve PreK - 8th grade
2008: Moody Methodist Church offered a temporary home when Hurricane Ike destroyed the school
2009: Opened current Galveston campus at 61st Street and Stewart Road
2013: Expanded to high school grades at the Galveston campus
2015: Expanded to the Bay Area with a campus of PreK - 8th grade serving students in 14 school districts
2017: First high school graduating class
2020: Opened the Texas City location with PreK - 6th grade
