Self-Care During COVID-19 & Back to School
Dear OA Family,
We all acknowledge that this time in our world is extremely stressful and sometimes may feel like too much to handle, especially as we approach this new school year. Please know your OA family is here for you.
I want to share with you another special organization that is here for you as well. It’s the Family Service Center (FSC) with many people specifically trained in supporting mental health.
We first met FSC when we lost our Galveston campus in Hurricane Ike. It was a very stressful time, and the staff at FSC came to OA to help us process and deal with all that was going on. They were so wonderful. I now serve on their board of directors and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing someone to talk with. They are just amazing!
Please take the time to either download their flyer here or read over it below. They have some great ideas about how to keep yourself healthy… physically, emotionally, and mentally. They also have contact information if you would like to reach out to them to talk with someone.

Deadline Extended to Aug. 21 for P-EBT Food Benefits | Plazo extendido hasta el 21 de agosto para beneficios de alimentos P-EBT
The deadline to apply for P-EBT food benefits has been extended to Aug. 21. Did your child receive free or reduced-price school meals through the National School Lunch Program during the 2019-2020 school year? If so, your family may be eligible for this one-time food benefit. Visit hhs.texas.gov/pebt to learn more about P-EBT. For questions regarding eligibility or if you need help applying, contact the P-EBT Call Center at 833-613-6220. The public charge rule does not apply to P-EBT benefits.
Se ha ampliado el plazo para solicitar los beneficios alimentarios de la Transferencia Electrónica de Beneficios por Pandemia (P-EBT, por sus siglas en inglés) hasta el 31 de julio. ¿Recibió su hijo comidas escolares gratuitas o a precio reducido a través del Programa Nacional de Almuerzos Escolares (National School Lunch Program) durante el año escolar 2019-2020? Si es así, su familia puede ser elegible para este beneficio alimentario único. Visite hhs.texas.gov/pebt para obtener más información sobre la P-EBT.
